Your collection and privacy

What is Game Vault?

A home for your game collection: what you own and on which platform, what you're playing, your trophies and achievements, playtime, a diary of play sessions and reviews, My Picks (a game for every hot take, a Top 9 and your own lists), and stats about your taste.

Who can see my collection?

Nobody but you, unless you choose to share. Your collections, notes and everything in them are private. Sharing is off until you turn it on in Sharing & linked accounts (in the menu under your picture).

What do you store about me, and who else gets it?

What you save, your account details, sign-in sessions and what we learn about your taste. Some features send what they need to other services, like the AI model or the platforms you link. We don't sell your data or use ad trackers. The privacy policy has the full list, how long things are kept, and your choices.

What's on my public profile if I share it?

A profile card with your username, profile picture and headline numbers (games owned, trophies, playtime). Your display name isn't shown, there or anywhere else other players can see. You choose whether it also shows your latest platinums, what you're playing now and your picks (on unless you turn them off), and your diary, stats, gift list and challenges (off until you turn them on). Your collections stay private unless you share one from its own page; then it shows on your profile and the Community page, without your notes. Your email is never shown.

Where do my reviews show up?

In your diary. If you share your diary publicly, your reviews also appear on your profile and on each game's Community tab for other players. Play-session notes appear in your public diary, not on the Community tab.

What is the Want to play collection?

Every account has a Want to play collection. Use it like any collection (add games, a description, a cover, and sub-collections such as “Next up” or “On sale”), but it can't be deleted or renamed, so your wishes are never lost. Games marked “want to play” in a collection you delete move there, and once you add a game from it to another collection as owned or playing, it comes off Want to play with its notes and diary.

Can I undo deleting a game or a collection?

Yes, for 30 days. Deleted collections, sub-collections and games go to Recently deleted (linked under “New collection” on your collections page). Restoring brings back the games with their playtime, trophies and notes, the sub-collections and their lists, and the cover. Import history isn't kept, and if you've added the same game again since, its reviews stay with that copy. After 30 days, or if you choose “Delete forever”, it's gone for good.

What happens to my reviews if I delete a game or a collection?

They stay, even after it's gone from Recently deleted. Your reviews and play sessions belong to you and the game, not to a collection. If you still have the game in another collection, they move there. If not, they stay in your diary (and your public diary, if you share it), marked as not in your collections, and come back to the game when you restore it or add it again, with your rating and like. Its playtime total still counts in your hours played. While a game isn't in any collection, you can still delete its reviews from your diary.

What happens to photos I scan to add games?

The photo is read by an AI model to find the games in it, kept for a day so you can review the matches, and then deleted. Photos that break the community policy are deleted straight away.

Is what I write sent to an AI?

Yes, for a few features. Reviews, names and photos are checked by an AI model when you save them (see below). Photo scans, spreadsheet imports, recommendations and your taste profile also use one. We only send what the feature needs.

How does Game Vault learn what I like?

From what you do here: what you like and rate, play, finish or abandon, add and take off Want to play, the game pages you open, the reviews you ♥, and what you mark Not interested on Discover (with the reasons and note you give). That shapes Discover and the AI's suggestions and answers for you. No AI model is trained on your data; what's learned is worked out from what you've saved and passed to the AI when it answers you.

It also counts how often you open each part of the site (Collections, Diary, Discover and so on), per day, to show you which features you use most. Only counts: never which page, game or search. Only you can see it, it's in your data download, and Start afresh clears it.

You can see, correct or reset it on What we've learned. Your likes and ratings also count, anonymously, towards "loved by players with your taste" suggestions for others (a game is only suggested once several players agree, and nobody sees who). You can turn that off on the same page.

Reviews, spoilers and moderation

Why couldn't I save my review?

Everything you write is checked when you save it. Hate speech, harassment, threats and extremism can't be saved. The message tells you what the check found. Swearing is fine. See what's never allowed.

If the message says the check couldn't run, nothing was wrong with your review: try again in a moment.

Why does my review say "Only you can see this"?

It was saved, but it's kept off public pages, either because the check found something from the kept-private list (like explicit sexual detail or spam), or because a moderator hid it after a report. If you edit it, the new version is checked again. If a moderator hid it, it stays hidden, even if you edit it, until a moderator decides otherwise. Reposting hidden text to get around a decision breaks the community policy.

How do I ask for a decision to be looked at again?

On the review in your diary (or on the game's page), choose Think this is wrong? Ask a moderator, add a note if you like, and send it. A person reviews every appeal. If they agree, the review is shown again (or the flag removed); if not, the decision stays and the note on the review tells you so.

Why was a spoiler flag added to my review?

It seems to give away part of the story: the ending, a twist, a character's death or a late-game surprise. Spoiler reviews are folded away until readers choose to open them. If you think it's wrong, you can ask a moderator. A flag a moderator adds stays on.

How do I report something?

Use the Report link on the review, profile or list, pick a reason and send it. You need to be logged in. Reports are private: the person won't see who sent one, and a moderator reads every report.

What can moderators do?

Hide a review from public pages, add or remove a spoiler flag, or take a public profile down, which stops it being shared until they restore it. See how it's enforced.

Your account

How do I hide swear words?

Turn on Hide swear words in Account › Preferences. Swearing is then masked (“f***”) everywhere you're signed in, including on other people's profiles. It's a good setting for younger players. Hate speech isn't allowed whatever this is set to.

What can my profile picture be?

Almost anything: you, your pet, your setup, your favourite game's art. It's checked when you upload it, and nudity, gore, hate symbols and extremist imagery aren't allowed.

How old do I need to be?

At least 13. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission. See the terms.

Can I sign in with Google?

Yes: choose Continue with Google on the login or sign-up page. We only ask Google for your name, email address and account ID, to sign you in. We don't post anything or read anything else from your Google account, and we don't keep your Google picture (upload your own in Account). Already have an account with the same email? Google joins it once that email is confirmed; if it isn't yet, log in with your password and confirm it first (resetting your password confirms it too).

Signed up with Google and want a password too? Add one in Account › Sign-in methods, or use Forgot password. Once you have a password you can also remove Google there.

Where do I change my name, username, picture or password?

In Account: click your picture at the top of any page (on a phone, open Menu). That's also where you set your region (so adding a physical game fills it in for you), hide swear words, download your data or delete your account. Sharing your profile and linking PlayStation, Steam or Xbox are in Sharing & linked accounts.

Can I get a copy of my data?

Yes. Account › Your data downloads your collections, games, copies, trophies, playtime, diary and reviews, picks, profile, settings, how you sign in, and your reports and appeals as a JSON file.

How do I delete my account?

In Account › Delete account, with your password (if you only sign in with Google, sign in with it again just before instead). It deletes your account and everything in it straight away, for good (it doesn't go to Recently deleted), so download your data first if you'd like a copy.

I forgot my password.

Use Forgot password on the login page. We'll email you a link that works for an hour.
