I was a bit burned out on games when I started this (too many huge open worlds in a row) and it was exactly the reset I needed, short enough that I never felt behind, and I finished it on a Sunday afternoon with a cup of tea going cold next to me

Can't remember the last time I lost track of time like this, I sat down after dinner to 'just do the first bit' and suddenly it was 1am and I had work in the morning, anyway it was worth being tired for

Right, some context: I didn't play the first one, I bought this because a guy at work wouldn't stop talking about it (every lunch, for weeks) and I figured I'd shut him up by trying it. The first few hours I was terrible. I couldn't read, couldn't fight, lost a fist fight to a drunk and got thrown in the stocks for something I didn't do. Then around the second evening it clicked and I started planning my day in the game like it was my actual day, wash clothes, visit the bathhouse, go poaching, get caught poaching (again). My partner doesn't play games but she watched this whole thing with me like a film, over about two weeks of evenings, she'd shout 'that ledge is going to break' and she was always right

Started this in co-op with a friend and then we both got busy, so I finished it alone, and it was definitely more fun with two, on my own the quiet bits dragged

I don't usually write these but a friend asked what I thought so here it is, I loved it, I played it every evening for a fortnight and was actually a bit sad when it ended, which hasn't happened in a while

Split-screen co-op on a Friday night with my mates, four of us round a tiny TV in someone's student house (the one with the broken sofa that you sank into, you had to be pulled out of it) and we played Legendary with skulls on until the sun came up. I went back to it recently on PC, on my own this time, and it's funny how much of it I remembered by muscle memory, which grenade to throw where, when to get in the Warthog. Played it mostly in handheld on long train trips to see my family (four hours each way) and it's perfect for that, one character's chapter per trip, even if the eight stories barely touch each other
